Q. Why should I be concerned with my skin's health?

A. Tragically, you probably spend more time and money on your clothes than on your skin!! Your clothes are easily replaceable; your skin is not. It is what you were born with, and it is what encases your body for your entire life. Your skin not only protects you from your environment, but it literally holds your body together. It is what we project, and what others see.

Your skin is your largest organ; yet, many of us treat it as disposable and easily replaced ---- it is neither. Treat your skin well; it must last you a lifetime. Keep it youthful; stay out of the sun and lotion for life!!

Q. Why should I use TanSome?

A. Your skin's ability to produce natural oils is your body's defense mechanism in retaining its most abundant substance: water. These oils literally "seal" your skin, thus preventing excessive water loss! Without this oil barrier, your skin will dehydrate, and as you age, degrade, thin, and become dry, wrinkled, inelastic, and easily torn. Essentially, your skin becomes "human-leather" unless liberally and frequently applied with lotion. Every time you perspire, bathe, swim, wear clothes, perfume, etc you remove natural oils from your skin. When you are young, your skin replenishes these lost oils quickly, but as you age, it cannot.

No magic pill will restore your skin's oils; only topically applied lotion will restore them! Visit any dermatologist and ask how to treat dry skin ---- he/she will reply: "Use lotion, every day." Remember, no pill will restore your skin's oils. TanSome's proprietary blend restores these lost oils, and supplies nourishment to your skin while very slowly achieving / maintaining a deep, dark bronze tan. TanSome should be considered "health food for your skin" because of the nutrient and vitamin content, and should be used daily. After reaching your desired tan, you may supplement it with your regular body lotion, and alternate as required to maintain your tan.

Q. Why shouldn't I get a real "sun-baked" tan?

A. Although you may think a real "sun-baked" tan "looks healthy", your tan is actually a symptom of UV-light overdose! Medically, the tanning process is your skin's self-defense mechanism attempting to protect itself from further damage by UV-light --- the darker the skin, the less the UV rays can penetrate the skin, and therefore, the less harm it can do.

Research shows that 90% of wrinkling, sagging, and rough skin is not caused by aging, but by the accumulated exposure to the sun's UV rays. Over time, a real "sun-baked" tan will destroy your skin's collagen, resulting in a loss of elasticity and its ability to snap back after stretching. It will also degrade, thin, wrinkle and turn your skin into "leather."

The sun's UV rays permanently damage your skin, and the damage is irreversible. Eventually, a high level of accumulated exposure to UV-light will greatly increase your chance of developing skin cancer; and depending upon the type and progression, can be fatal (especially metastasized melanoma).

The answer to a youthful look is to stay out of the sun and use a nutrient-rich body lotion (like TanSome) to lubricate and re-hydrate your skin, restoring it to a soft and supple feel. If you want to stay looking younger, you must stay out of the sun and use a nutrient-rich body lotion (more on this later).

As a society, we willingly trade our long-term health for short-term beauty. According to all governmental, medical, and health agencies: "There is no such thing as a safe suntan."

Q. Does TanSome replace UV-light?

A. Yes and No. Some UV-light is necessary for your skin to generate nutrients (Vitamin D, among others), but all reputable health experts agree that overdose of UV-light suppresses your immune system, and increases your risk of cancer (just 20 minutes of midday sunlight will greatly diminish your body's immune system and deplete half your body's Vitamin C).

Manufacturers of tanning beds and sun-tanning lotions (especially those that intensify a suntan) now promulgate misinformation and downright lies about the safety of their products. They claim that some magical ratio of UV-A to UV-B light will lessen their harmful effects! These profiteers have no shame in their quest for higher profits. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM, find out for yourself (follow the links at the bottom of this page). Remember, the higher the accumulated exposure to UV-light, the more aged your skin becomes and the higher your risk of skin cancer.

Normally, 15 minutes of non-midday UV-light per day is sufficient for nutrient generation and prevention of SADS (Seasonally Affected Disease Syndrome caused by UV light deficiency). TanSome cannot replace the beneficial effects of UV-light; but it can give you a beautiful sunless tan without the risk of skin cancer.

Q. How do the tanning agents "tan" my skin?

A. The proprietary, time-released tanning agents in TanSome react with the keratin (protein) in your skin's "dead" cells, darkening them. It does not react with, nor will it darken your skin's "live" cells.

Remember, only UV-light will tan your "live" cells; and irradiating "live" cells with UV-light damages them, thereby greatly increasing the chances of skin cancer.

Q. Does TanSome provide sunburn protection?

A. No! TanSome is a premium body lotion and provides no protection from sunburn.

Q. Can I apply sunscreen lotion over TanSome?

A. Yes! Remember, TanSome is a premium body lotion, and neither inhibits nor accelerates UV-light tanning.

Q. If I have vitiligo, will it tan my white spots?

A. Possibly, if used twice every day for at least 8 weeks on the non-pigmented areas. Limited testing has shown noticeable darkening where applied regularly, but results vary between individuals, and an expected outcome cannot be guaranteed.

Q. Be Honest - Isn't TanSome just another "self-tanning" lotion?

A. Absolutely not! Conventional "self-tanning" lotions use high concentrations of tanning agents to provide a tan within 2 to 4 hours. In fact, most self-tanning lotions are now boasting of using even higher concentrations of tanning agents for an even faster tan, which only exacerbates the likelihood of streaking and orangey hues.

Since uniform coverage of any lotion is impossible, streaking and orangey hues are inevitable. Irrespective of claims to the contrary, achieving a uniform tan with any conventional "instant-tanning" lotion is almost impossible.

TanSome is not considered a "instant-tanning" lotion to be used occasionally, but a premium body lotion with time-released tanning agents to be used daily. TanSome, by itself, is a great lotion; the ability to gradually give you a healthy, dark and uniform tan is just one of its many benefits.
