How TanSome Sunless Tanning Lotion Works

TanSome Sunless Tanning Overview

TanSome self tanning lotion is different from all other self tanning lotions:
1)  TanSome Sunless Tanning Lotion was the first company to offer a gradual sunless tanning lotion. We have the most experience at experimenting with it and the most experience at making it. We know which ingredients to use and how to mix them to give you a uniform, dark bronze tan. Today, there are hundreds of companies trying to copy our formula, but none use the natural ingredients we use.

2)  TanSome Sunless Tanning Lotion places our time–released tanning agents within a premium, all–natural, moisturizing body lotion. No other sunless tanning lotion can claim use of an all–natural, moisturizing body lotion as its base. We use natural antioxidants, fruit derivatives, tropical oils and butters, and natural vitamins. We use no industrial chemicals. We do not use mineral oil, petroleums, parabens, polyethylene, etc. (compare us to Bain Soleil, Coppertone, Eucerin, Hawaiian Tropic, Jergens, Neutrogena, Xen-Tan, etc). They use these industrial ingredients to lower their cost; we don't. Visit: TanSome Ingredients.

The combination of biocompatible antioxidants, fruit derivatives, tropical oils and butters, and natural vitamins perform two purposes: 1) nourish and re–hydrate your skin; and 2) carry the time–released tanning agents deep into your skin to the live/dead cell layer to provide you a rich, uniform, deep bronze tan. Sunless Tanning and Your Skin

Your skin's outermost layer is called the "horny layer" (also called the Stratum Corneum), which is comprised of your "dead" skin cells. These "dead" cells slough from your body (you slough millions of these "dead" cells every day). Factors that can accelerate natural sloughing include the continual scuffing of your clothes (ring around the collar), bathing, perfuming, exfoliating, etc.

The "dead" cells were "live" cells about 30 – 60 days earlier, depending upon your age. As "live" skin cells are generated, they migrate outward, pushing the horny layer outward. When the "live" cells reach the horny layer, they die and become part of the horny layer. The thickness of this layer is about 0.01 — 0.02 mm (about one – tenth the thickness of a sheet of office paper, which is about 0.1 mm).

Underneath your "horny layer" is your "dermis" layer, which is comprised of "live" cells. As "live" skin cells are generated by your skin's basal cell layer, they migrate outwards through the living dermis to the horny layer. The thickness of this layer is about 0.02 — 0.13 mm (about one – fifth the thickness of a sheet of office paper).

The active ingredient in TanSome Sunless Tanning Lotion is an FDA–approved extractable fruit derivative. When applied to your skin, the fruit derivative combines with the keratin within your "dead" skin to form chemical compounds known as melaninoids.

The melaninoids turn either orange or brown in color, depending upon the "tanning time" and the ingredients within the base used to carry the fruit derivative deep into your skin's "horny layer." The more "gradual" the tan, the more natural looking and the darker the tan.
